Operating Bets

On treating each project as a bet you have to operate, not a product you have to launch.

I have stopped thinking about "launches." A launch is a moment. A bet is a posture.

The posture

When I start something now, I ask: am I willing to operate this for five years? Not run it, not exit it — operate it. Show up to the same dashboards, the same customers, the same boring Tuesday.

Most ideas fail this test. That is the point of the test.
