I run the whole operation from my phone. Not “answer email from the beach”, actually run it. Most days my laptop stays closed until the afternoon, if it opens at all.

What does running everything from a phone involve?

Four things, all from my pocket:

I approve the morning’s projects, my AI operations manager suggests them, I say yes or no. I answer its questions when a job hits something unclear. I clear content before it publishes. And through the day, I get a short message each time a finished job passes its quality check.

The AI agents do the producing. I do the deciding, from the gym, from a cafe, from wherever I am.

What makes that safe rather than reckless?

Three rules, and they’re the whole trick:

First, every AI reports its work to one shared dashboard, so there’s one place to see what’s true. Second, nothing gets sent, published, or paid without my yes. Third, a second AI, from a different company, double-checks every finished job before it reaches me, so what I’m approving has already been inspected once.

Handing off work without those rules isn’t automation, it’s gambling.

What’s the actual lesson for a business owner?

The promise of AI for a small business isn’t “write my emails faster.” It’s moving the owner’s job from doing to deciding, and making deciding portable.

Deciding is still real work: judgment calls, every day, and I take responsibility for every one. But deciding fits in a pocket. Producing never did.
